Nashville Comedy Magician - Laughter on the Front Lines: My Comedy Tour Abroad

Jeff Bornstein

There was a time when I swapped the comforts of U.S. comedy clubs for military bases in the Middle East. Yep, I took my jokes international—because who doesn’t want to hear dad jokes while dodging sandstorms?

Stateside Shenanigans

It all started in U.S. comedy clubs where I learned every city has its own brand of weird. New Yorkers are brutally honest, while LA crowds pretend not to be impressed—because, you know, they’re “enlightened.”

Overseas Antics

Iraq and Kuwait: When I hit Iraq and Kuwait, I was ready to bring some serious giggles. Seeing the troops crack up was like a medal of honor—albeit one made of laughter instead of metal.

Bahrain and Djibouti: Bahrain had a breathtaking backdrop, making me regret every breadstick I ever ate. Djibouti was a hoot-and-a-half too! Troops there laughed so hard, I thought they’d get a workout.

Saudi Arabia: Performing in Saudi Arabia was like walking a comedic tightrope. You’ve gotta keep it classy yet funny, like being the only sober person at a college party. But hey, the troops loved it, even if my camel jokes had a short shelf life.

The Comeback

All this to say, it's been about seven years since I’ve set foot on a comedy club stage, and on April 11, I'll be at Jokers Comedy House in Clarksville, TN. Hope to see you there... Keep your expectations low and your laughter high!
